Tiramisu Mousse


  • 1 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese or cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ounce semi-sweet baking chocolate


  1. In a bowl, place the instant coffee in the hot water and stir.
  2. Let the coffee mixture cool.
  3. In another bowl, beat the whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
  4. Chill the whipped cream in the refrigerator until ready to use.
  5. In a large bowl, mix the powdered sugar and the mascarpone cheese with a hand mixer until smooth.
  6. Mix the vanilla extract and at least 1 tablespoon of the coffee into the mascarpone mixture. If a stronger coffee flavor is preferred, add more of the coffee.
  7. Gently fold the whipped cream into coffee mixture.
  8. Place the tiramisu mixture in a gallon-sized resealable plastic bag fitted with a large round tip.
  9. Pipe a small amount of the tiramisu mousse in the bottom of each of the 4 serving glasses.
  10. Top the layer with a dusting of the cocoa powder.
  11. Continue layering the tiramisu and the cocoa powder until you reach the top of the serving glasses.
  12. Grate the baking chocolate over the tops of the serving dishes.
  13. Cover and chill until ready to serve.
