Ingredients
- 4 cups pepper jack cheese, shredded
- 2 jalapeños, seeded and diced
- olive oil, to taste, for frying
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions
-
In a large bowl, add the pepper jack cheese and the jalapeños and stir to combine.
-
Shape the jalapeño mixture into 1-1/2-inch-thick balls.
-
Place the balls back into the bowl and freeze until chilled, about 30 minutes-1 hour.
-
Once the balls have chilled, in a deep pot, heat the oil to 350 degrees F.
-
In a bowl, add the flour.
-
In a small bowl, add the egg and the milk and whisk to combine.
-
In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, the cayenne pepper, the paprika, and the garlic powder.
-
Roll the balls, one at a time, in the flour, the egg mixture, and then the breadcrumb mixture.
-
Place a few of the balls at a time in the oil and fry until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Repeat until all of the balls are fried.
-
Transfer the bites to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain.
-
Serve.
