Lizzy’s Green Beans

Ingredients

  • 6 bacon strips, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 pounds fresh green beans
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions

  1. In a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat, add the bacon and cook, while stirring, until crisp, about 5 minutes.

  2. Add the green beans, the brown sugar, and the water to the bacon and cook, while stirring gently, until the mixture comes to a boil.

  3. Reduce the heat to low.

  4. Cover the skillet and simmer until the green beans are crisp-tender, about 15 minutes.

  5. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the green beans and the bacon to a serving bowl.

  6. Serve.
